What is your specialization and why did you choose to work in this area?
My specialization is Power Vinyasa Yoga. I chose this style because it is a combination of power strengthening and meditation. This allows me and my clients to receive results mentally and physcially.
----
What do you find most gets in the way of an individual's follow-through and success with change or healing therapy? (for example, Is it the "inner-critic"?, self-sabotage? Initial goals or expectations too large?)
The only thing that gets in the way of an individual is carving out time to get on the mat. People’s everyday lives are very hectic, but it is very important to find the time for oneself.
----
How do you support your client's goal to keep their personal intention and create lasting change?
Revisiting intention and releasing expectations are two things that I preach during my classes. Both of these things allow my clients to look within themselves to find things they would like to let go of or work on. Self-reflection is an important part of life, and allows my clients to keep their personal intention and create lasting change.
----
Research shows that individuals keep their personal goals when they have a support system in place. What do you offer to provide the care and support necessary for an individual to experience change?
I recommend networking with people within the studio. Share you experiences with others and listen to their experiences. People often feel as though whatever they are experiencing in life or on the mat is unique. The details of each experience may be different, but the feelings and emotions experienced are often similar. Once you realize that we are all experiencing similar feelings, you are filled with more confidence that we are all the same and “if they can do it I can do it!”
----
Many individuals reading this may feel overwhelmed and not know where to begin in setting a personal goal. What is your best advice to bring self-compassion and patience?
Loving the self is the catalyst of change. Change requires self-acceptance!
